Combine - This stage is the unsung stage of the inquiry process. In the Connect stage the inquirer has been drawn into the concept with the hook and supported with information, then the Inquirers focus their attention to a particular driving question, The Big Question, in the Clarify stage.
The Combine stage is a combination of both the Connect and the Clarify stage. The inquirer needs to go back to the Connect stage remembering and recalling the information they have gathered and then begin to filter it though the Big question (Clarify). If the inquire has used graphic organisers such as mind mapping in connect stage it will be easier for the inquirer to recall and organise the information. This process is much like the computational thinking process.

The hardest part of the Clarify stage is being distracted and letting your thoughts and inquiry move away from the big question, there will lots ideas buzzing around it is important to be mindful of your purpose.

In the Combine stage the inquirer needs to then sort out the relevant information into facts and inferences. It is also a good idea at this time to record where the information came from and how valid it is, Scrutinise the information more intensely. Take this information again and filter it through the Big Question. Thinking about what you now know, what ideas and understandings need further attention and where to now, the so what. With this information collated you can now move onto creating a solution.
